2nd Thoughts on 53rd & OMG WHAT?!

Okay, maybe I shot down Kimi sae ireba nani mo iranai in some ways a little quickly. So here are some rethoughts and reconfirmations on my original thoughts.

1. I still feel the same about the stupid amount of voice techy stuff that H!P has been using in Morning Musume songs. The verses have grown on me some, they're still boring, but the dischord with their voices is kinda interesting, in a funky robotic way, I suppose. I do seriously love the chorus, and the solos in the pre-chorus (Reina / Ayumi / Riho) are fabulous. I still have more fun rocking out to Brainstorming, but this is a decent double A-side song. But the "Two thousand people on the dance floor" is really lame.

2. Costumes STILL get a zero on a scale of one to ten. I really don't care for the flapper girl dress in this style and for this PV, or the blinding yellow that matches no theme. The background is coolish, but I think it would have been better paired with different outfits. They will probably forever be an eyesore for me. I must say, H!P has been making good use of lighting.

3. I feel the same about the dance choreography being repetitive . Disappointed to see yet again more of the same combos. Hoping for something to really wow me in their next video, whether it's the dance routine or the creativeness of the scenes (etc).

4. I am still pleased with how lines are going! I have something to add to this, but it deals with the second part of this post, so I'll wait.

5. And I still think the same about what I said about Sayumi.

So after having read other people's opinions, and watching Chiima's reaction video, I spent more time listening to & watching Kimi sae ireba nani mo iranai to give it another chance (it's on repeat right now). And I admit it's still good material. The small let downs for me overshadowed it as a whole initially, but it's not too bad. I can grow to like almost anything from H!P.

MORNING MUSUME 12TH GENERATION AUDITIONS?!

What what what what?! This came as a huge gigantic shock for me. Maybe some people saw it coming, because it's happened so often lately. But with all the graduations and the addition of -not one, but THREE new generations- nine new members in total, I thought that Tsunku would let the group grow together and have at least a year or two of peace.

Change is inevitable, and though it makes us sad and/or displeased, it often turns out well. I wasn't too sure how I felt about generations 9, 10 and 11 when their auditions were going on. But now I can't imagine Momusu without the nine wonderful girls that have been added!! Sakura hasn't even been around long, and I already love her.

I guess I just wasn't expecting to get online, check Hello Sayunii, and read first thing about MM 12th gen auditions. It took me off guard and my first reaction was literally WHAT?!? But it's sunk in, and I don't think it's a bad thing. I do think it's going to be supremely difficult to even attempt to fill Tanaka Reina's shoes.

I still don't know what Morning Musume is going to be like after she leaves. I would, surprisingly, like Sayumi to get a bit more in the way of solo lines or at least lead spotlight. I don't want it to be the Riho show. I also don't want the new 12th gen to be put before their senpais in the line distribution and music videos.

I think that Momusu isn't going to have a top girl. Not until one is formed from the current members. Riho doesn't have the vocals to be the lead star (like Aichan was). I think they need to be a group for a while, until the true front girl emerges. Mizuki, Sakura, Ayumi and Riho can easily shine together. Along with Masaki and Haruna. I think Kanon, Eripon and Haruka have the talent, but they have become the Aika's and Maasa's. The supporters who don't get as much spotlight. I'd like to see and hear them more, but I don't know if the directors will do that.

Anyways, enough rambling. Just felt like blogging about this stuff some more.

Ayachan out!

Mixed Feelings

Brainstorming had me pumped up for Morning Musume. But now with their latest song & video release, I'm have mixed feelings and think that Kimi sae ireba nani mo iranai overall is a bit of a let down.

1. Tsunku. Please back off on the autotune (or whatever voice techy stuff goes on so much these days). These girls CAN sing. They don't need it. As for the song, I don't care for the verses, I really enjoy the solos during the pre-chorus' and I like the chorus. It's not as catchy a Brainstorming, but it's not bad.

2. Costumes get a zero on a scale of one to ten. The yellow is a bad choice, with Pyoco Pyoco only a few singles back. A lot of people disliked the Pyoco Pyoco outfits, but I think they match the theme of the video and are darling. These ones make me cringe. After the cool looking outfits of Brainstorming, how in the world did MM end up in these flapper girl dresses?! Even Pepper Keibu and Seishun Collection have better outfits.

3. While I like the direction MM has been going in, the dance choreography is getting repetitive. Help Me, Take a Chance, and Brainstorming have a lot of common or similar dance moves. And as I watched the latest MV, I was disappointed to see yet again more of the same combos. I'd like them to do something totally different in their next PV. Maybe take a step away from the 'dance shot versions' and go for a fun video with lots of close ups and different scenes. One can hope.

4. Line distribution. Morning Musume has been making me happy with allowing 9+10&11 gens to solo more and more. I LOVE that you hear more of Ayumi, Sakura, and Mizuki. I was sad to not really hear from Masaki this single though. I also think they are horribly overlooking Haruka's vocals. That girl deserves at least one solo!

5. Sayumi. Ugh, I don't wanna say I feel 'sorry' for her. But I kind of do. Even with Aichan and Gakisan graduated, she doesn't get much more than autotuned lines where you don't really get to hear her voice for what it is, or Ha's Ah's Ai's and Oh's. I remember when she was on Music Fighter and mentioned how she wished to have more lines than her simple "Help Me" in Resonant Blue. In a funny way, I hope that once Reina graduates, Sayumi doesn't get thrown to the back behind the new generations. She deserves to shine some.

Overall, this is a very forgettable song and video for me. I like Brainstorming as an A-side of their 53rd single a lot, but I like singles 44th through 52nd ALL more than I like Kimi Sae Ireba Nani mo Irenai alone.

モーニング娘。愛してる!

Who else was super surprised when they found out about the sudden and mysterious release of a unannounced Morning Musume music video?! I'm a hardcore YouTuber, I'm on everyday and check my subscriptions first thing. When I saw the stillshot of Buresuto, I knew it was a music video -and a full one, at that- but was very surprised to see it was uploaded by the MM official channel!!!

WOW! I am blown away!

This is definitely, hands down, my favorite single from Momusu since Pyoco Pyoco.

All of their singles from 49th to 51st have their highlights, and I still enjoy them as a fan. They give me more hope every day, that MM will succeed as a group, even after the recent graduations. After their 52nd single [Help Me!!] was released, it perked me right up in spirits, because I liked the direction the group was heading in.

And now, Tsunku and the members of Morning Musume have taken the Asian music world by total surprise, with the unexpected early released of the music video, the speculation about Buresuto being the official 53rd single, and the pure epicness of the song + vocals & dancing!

I love the simplicity of the "loose shot ver" video. The camera angles are well done and really showcase the awesome choreography. The beat of the song is killer, the chorus is by far my favorite part. It is damn catchy, and I love the I'm-punching-the-ground move. Overall, the outfits and dance style remind me of C-ute, but the song just shouts WE ARE MORNING MUSUME to me. And I love it, through and through.

I AM SO HAPPY that Mizuki has been getting the attention she deserves. And OMG Sakura. Her solos are amazing amazing amazing. She has such a solid voice, and delivers her lines with such passion. I also really enjoyed Masaki's main solo, she is one of the other girls that I hope continues to get good lines. Ayumi too, she is very outgoing and I have taken a shine to her as well. Riho's vocals are bearable, she actually kind of sounds cute in this single.

Overall, I am extremely happy with MM's 53rd single!!!!!

Fan spazz blabber;

I still cry sometimes when I watch too many concert videos with Gakisan or Aichan, but I have accepted the recent changes in Morning Musume, and am really enjoying them even after two of my favorites have left (and Reina is leaving).

I have actually grown very attached to the girls in the last three generations. I guess that is what's supposed to happen. The whole point of a group like MM, with generations and graduations. And, for me at least, it works. Morning Musume is moving on to another era, a newer chapter. We'll always enjoy turning the pages back and remembering those we love & miss. But I have to applaud Tsunku and all the current MM members for their continuing success.

Thank you for this amazing new single. I truly love it, and look forward to everything you do!

I Get Around / More Musume Thoughts

So yesterday I did some blog surfing, and read some really good & interesting posts by various H!P fans. I am happy to find that I am not the only one who doesn't like the idea of Riho as the new Ace of Morning Musume. I can't find the link to one post in particular, but it also put a new light on the whole thing as well.

Riho is not ready vocally, I think she is a very sad choice of lead vocal following the amazing talents of members like Gakisan, Aichan, and Reina. But she does have the attitude to play the role. I can give her points on being good at other idol related things (dancing, stage presentation, good camera manners, photogenic etc). And I can see Tsunku using her advantages and making her a center focus on these last few singles, since 10gen was still so fresh, and other gens were leaving.

But it stops here Tsunku.

Fukachan will make a great center. Perhaps not an Ace, since she has a sweeter, toned down personality. But she has a good head on her shoulders, is a great senpai already, and is VERY talented! Look at all the great work she has done with Shigesan?! I really hope Tsunku brings her to the front and lets her shine.

I don't think any others in 9gen have what it takes to be Ace or a center role. I adore Zukki, and KY has grown on me- but neither are any where near being vocally sound enough to maintain either position in the group. Sayumi will of course continue to have some special spot, as the oldest, most experienced and the leader. But I don't want her to be a center focus.

I have to admit, that aside from Riho, I don't honestly think that any other member is solid and ready enough to be THE ace. I mean, the ACE of the group. 10th gen is mind blowingly amazing. I love every single member. And while Sakura, the lone 11th gen member, might be really good and pushed to the front by Tsunku as a center focus. I don't know if she will be the Ace.

I am hoping that Tsunku will go for a group of centers. Sort of how Aichan was the Ace, but Reina, Gakisan and Eri were all in the spotlight with her. They were that wonderful lucky number of four that really lead Morning Musume for several years. Riho isn't going to just spontaneously combust, so she is going to stay in the spotlight. But I would love to see Fukuchan there as well.

Sakura I want to get to know better before I form an opinion. I am a sucker for Haruka, and she has a gorgeous voice! I would love her to be a center, but I'm unsure if it'll happen sooner rather than later, since she is so young. And I have a strong feeling that Tsunku is going to promote Ayumi, who I can see as having some future Ace quality.

After Reina leaves, I really hope the group doesn't make any more changes for a few years at least! I want to get a bit used to this group of girls, get to know them like I have previous members, I want to see the younger gens grow. I want them to appear on TV shows, and hold loads of concerts! I want to continue loving Momusu, because it's a wonderful thing!

Kawaii Queen Has her Throne

At first, I wasn't overly upset that Sayumi became the next Momusu leader. I was still in shock that Aichan then Gakisan both graduated!!! (I wish them the best of luck though, and will always hold them very special in my heart.) But after watching some Haromoni, I'm not so sure.

Shigesan has never been a favorite member of mine. She is pitchy, you can't really hear her during performances, and she uses her kawaii-fake-tone too much. But you can't hold lack-of-singing-talent against someone. So I tried not to pick on her, and I did agree that she is really cute. I even went through a Sayumi / Maasa photo buying stage back when I was getting merch off ebay.

However- if I hear her publicly arguing with one more person about how cute she is, I'm going to puke all over her. In every episode of Music Fighter I watched, she mentioned at least once how kawaii she is. How it's a fact. How she thinks 100% she is the cutest being in existence. How no one is cuter than her. This girl is really blunt, tactless and rude about it. She doesn't hold back and I bet she has hurt other members feelings before (Koharu).

She has also admitted on TV that she can't sing!!! I do have to give her some props for believing in herself, striving for her dreams, and for trying to succeed in a singing group when she lacks the vocal talent. But her attitude about it all is semi-frustrating and a bit of a let down when it comes to her character. Everyone thinks she is delightfully cute and innocent. But I don't. I think she's calculating. Wheels are turning behind those kirakira eyes of hers.

And now she is on the throne, like she always wanted to be.

Just like with Aichan, Natsumi, and so many other Momusu members, Reina had to grow on me. I've always always loved her singing, her ability to perform, her stage presence, her energy, her focus. But I always thought she was bratty. I have seen her softer sides though, I have seen her being sweet, or sad about something. I have seen her cry, or be defensive, and I've seen her smile. I love Reina, as much as I do Aichan and Gakisan.

I knew it was coming, that her or Sayumi would leave the group as well. But I didn't think it would be this soon, and I was hoping it wouldn't be Reina. I can understand that she must feel very alone, with all the young inexperinced members surroundering her. Aichan and Reina played so well off each other. They kept each other's drive going, and were amazing at duos. And with all other gens completely gone except hers (and it's only Sayumi), and the last three gens, I think I'd want to leave too. But I'm a bit scared for Momusu.

I love love love 10th generation!! I am in love with Haruka, her mature voice is beautiful. Pure pleasure to listen to. I think she's very talented and will do very well in the group. We can already tell that Ayumi is going to be one of the new front girls. But I'm not bitter over it, because I think she is a great dancer, has a nice smile and will be good for the group also. Masaki had to grow on me a little, but she is actually super sweet. I think that she isn't out of place in Momusu, but that she's the little sweetness they needed. And Haruna is freakin' genki! I adore her to pieces.

It's more the 9th gen I worry about, and the future leadership of MM. I don't think Riho from 9th is ready to be the star that Aichan was, I don't think she can be it. She has the attitude and performance down, but her vocals aren't strong enough. I like Zukki, but think she is kinda Aika like, in that she isn't going to get enough focus. I would really like the lineup to stay the same for at least a year or so now that we're getting through all these heart wrenching graduations.

I love that Mizuki is getting more attention, because she's awesome! I think her experience in H!P Eggs gives her a step up, and I loved her in Shugo Chara! She is a great medium between cute and mature, very lovable. I like her duets with Sayumi (even if I don't care for Sayumi herself). KY or Erina, I kind of don't have an opinion on. I am happy that she's gotten more confident since joining, but I don't think she is memorable.

Where I think Reina is leaving for various reasons, one being all the golden members gone and the age level being so new and young- Sayumi is the opposite and thrives on it. She is now the oldest, with the most experience, and is senpai to all three remaining generations. She is the official leader, and can tell herself that she is #1 kawaii. And once Reina leaves, I bet she will continue to get focus in singles, along with Riho and Ayumi for sure.

I am putting my faith in 10th generation!! Please keep Morning Musume alive! Do their history honor! Keep their amazing legend and name going!

Reinachan. I am really sad that you're leaving. But I hope that you find happiness!

Shigesan. I don't think you're the most kawaii. At all.

GLAM GAM BAM!

To continue on; GAM! Again, another group whose songs I mainly heard as dubs. I can recognize a few of their singles by just hearing them, but I've never known much about either girl until now. I just watched them on Music Fighter as a duo, and it was hilarious. Because there were no younger gens present, there was a more mature air to the entire shoot. The pair & the hosts interacted well and made a lot of great jokes.

I think my first run in with Matsuura Aya was by seeing her in a H!P musical. I don't remember exactly which one, but there was two versions of it- one with her as the lead, and one with someone else. At the time, I preferred the not-her version lol.

Back when I first made my MiriuOniaya YT account, I was still in the newer stages of being / becoming a H!P fan, and exploring the world of Asian Entertainment. I was fascinated by the Japanese language, but hadn't quite broken it down so as to begin pronouncing and/or understanding it. I put the name together because I liked the way the syllables sounded. It wasn't until later that I decided the name didn't really make sense.

I took on the name Aya because I became very attached to it. It's short and simple, has a nice catch to it. And there was Ayaya, a soloist in H!P that I knew nothing about, and shared a name with. I didn't even spare her a glance until down the road when I discovered the epicness of DEF DIVA (Aya is obsessed with the song Suki Suki Baka Mitai). Even still, I didn't care much about the members, it was more their music.

In the last month or so, I've see a few episodes of Haromoni that Ayaya joined in, and I truly enjoyed her. She is kind of ladylike, not overly girly, but sweet, semi-proper, but still funny. Very Gam / Glam. I really had fun watching her and Mikitty interact on Music Fighter. They are really good friends, and it showed. They accept each other for their posititves and their faults, and do many things naturally together. It's cute; Ayaya is more the feminine type, and Mikitty can be very tomboyish even if she doesn't look it.

Mikitty. I mainly recognized her from Momusu's Kanashimi Twilight. I didn't realize that she was a part of H!P as an established soloist, before being in Morning Musume. She wasn't as fresh at the Hello! Project world as the other new gen members at the time. I always got a leader-like, experienced type of vibe from her. And now I know why.

Getting to know her through Haromoni has been a real trip. She is very blunt and up front about things, and often reminds me of Yossi when it comes to humor and tomboyishness. I would have liked to see her as MM's leader for longer, but I am happy to know her better now, because it really does sharpen the experience of watching MVs, TV shows, and other media related to H!P. Knowing (as best as you can, from fan to idol) someone changes things, and makes them more interesting. And I am better able to hold H!P members dearly in my heart as well.

Going back to Ayaya, I love her!! I have watched more of her solo lives and music videos than Mikitty, and think she is sensational. I adore her way of talking, and I really like her voice. Performance wise, she reminds me of a mix between Reina and Aichan. It's really something to watch these girls over the years. To grow with them, as they mature, learn more, and blossom further in their career. And the joy they have doing so!!

Daisuki Ayaya! Daisuki Mikitty!

BABY! Koi ni KNOCK OUT!

Every day I learn something about a Morning Musume member or song that I didn't know. I've been watching every episode of Haromoni (Hello Morning) I can find, and just recently started watching their appearances on Much Fighter! Now I understand so much more about the way long-time Momsusu fans talk, where before I felt like I was leagues out of the conversations and/or topic(s).

I was just now video surfing and went from live performances of DEF DIVA, to Matsuura Aya, and ended at Petitmoni's BABY! Koi ni KNOCK OUT! Back in March of 2010 when I started my blog Blabodu, I actually learned about a lot of H!P groups and songs by hearing them a dubs first, '恋にKnock Out' being one of them.

I never really connected with the older members, the beginning singles, and the disbanded and or graduated groups. I didn't really think anything of Goto Maki or Yasuda Kei. But within the last month or two I have fallen in love with this song!! I can see why any dubbing group would want to sing it. It's so catchy and fun, I love belting out the chorus.

Yasuda Kei is really funny. She always makes me laugh when I watch her in TV episodes. And she is a really good singer. But she is pretty, has a great sense of humor and a warm personality. I really like her a lot. I want to get to know her music history in H!P better.

Ayaka. She is a member that I still don't feel like I know well. I have checked out Coconuts Musume in the past, but can't actually recall anything about it. I recognize Ayaka as a H!P member, but don't know all the groups she is in. From watching her in Petotmoni, I really like her. She is the type of member that I warm up to instantly without knowing much about, and she's talented. Very sweet. She kind of reminds me of LinLin from Momusu. I plan on looking into her H!P activities more!

Goto Maki. When you're new to the Momusu world, and you do your homework by listening to previous singles- Gomaki had a pretty good debut. It's in stuff like Akagumi 4's Akai Nikkichou that I dislike her. I don't like when her or Natsumi do the weak I'm-cute voice. But Gottsan matured beautifully. I think she is an amazing soloist, and performs so well live! I'm happy I got to know her better, because before, she was never a fave member of mine. I'd like to watch more of her TV appearances.

Yoshizawa Hitomi. Yossi!! I've always enjoyed her tomboy character, cause she reminds me of myself in that sense. I think it was nice to have a character like her in Momusu that girls could relate to. I never understood her position in Momusu until recently. She was the leader of MM for just over two years!! Watching her interact with the younger gens on Haromoni was an eyeopener, and a lot of fun! She is extremely funny and easy to love.

Ogawa Makoto. Another hilarious girl that I never took a closer look at until now. She is awesome! I love that I have discovered so many members that make me laugh and love'em. She is tons of fun in the games Momusu plays, and keeps things going with her humor. I know I saw some of the same things about members, but they're true! Makoto is also a fab singer. Not the strongest, but I still enjoy her.

BABY! Koi ni KNOCK OUT! is a riot and all of Petitmoni's generations are wonderful!!
